Well it has been a very busy 2017 so far as the lake is concerned. We have added new reed beds within the lake to encourage extra wildlife which is beneficial for the fish, also to help the small fry survive. We have a lot of double figure fish and because of the construction of the lake the new offspring was not getting a change to survive, hopefully we have corrected that now. The new planting should enhance the ambience of the lake too. Also the lake is 32 years old this year and there is a small build up of silt, we have been advised to use a lime or chalk base product to enhance the water quality and help diminish the silt. So we have used Siltex which hopefully will do what it says on the packet. In all we hope to have happy fish and even more happy fishermen. Big thank you to David Lidstone of Emperor Lakes and David Kerr of Devon Pond Plants for their invaluable advice and patience.
Largest out during Christmas/New Year was 16lb. We have been closed since them but the lake is now up and running again, so far quite a lot of roach has been caught and a few trout (even though we put 80 back in the stream where they came from).
April availability – We still have 3 night breaks available Friday 31st March, Friday 7th April and Friday 21st April 2017 and 4 night breaks Monday 3rd April 10th and 17th April 2017 with the odd week available too.
